Privacy policy for the website

This privacy policy covers the website memdiz.com. The controller is mindrevolution GmbH, Fritz-Walter-Weg 19, 70372 Stuttgart, Germany. Contact: support@memdiz.com. The memdiz app is covered by the separate app privacy policy.

Website delivery

Our hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data to deliver and secure this website. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. The data is deleted when it is no longer required for secure operation and no legal retention duty applies.

The website and our account data are hosted on servers in Germany. We use an email service provider in the EU for necessary account and service messages. Delivery then goes to your mailbox provider, which may process data outside the EU. Visiting this website alone does not trigger AI processing.

Account and family

When you start on the website, we process your email address, sign-in details, family name and timestamps for verification and app activation. We use these to provide your account and family and send the related service messages under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. If you choose an offered Google, Microsoft or Apple sign-in option, we receive the verified provider identifier and account details you release, such as email address and name. The provider processes sign-in under its own privacy terms, which may involve processing outside the EU. You can instead create your account with an email address and password. We do not process any payment data.

Analytics – only with your consent

If you answer “Yes, sure” to “May we count visits?” in the privacy dialog, we use Umami to measure how our website is used: which pages are viewed, where visits come from and which steps lead to setting up a family. Umami is open-source software we run ourselves on our server in Germany (stats.memdiz.com). No data goes to third parties; no ads, no cookies.

We record: the page and its title, the domain of the referring website, approved campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content; we remove all other address parameters), screen size, browser language, browser, operating system, device type and an approximate location (country, region, city) that our server derives from the IP address. We also count clicks on store buttons, “Set up your family”, article links explaining the app and printable resources, plus article category selections. For articles, we record once whether you have spent at least 30 active seconds viewing the article and reached halfway through its text after consenting. This uses scroll position, window visibility and recent interaction; keystrokes and individual mouse movements are not transmitted. We also count email registrations accepted by the server and the start of sign-in through a provider, without form contents. These actions do not prove account verification or an app installation. To do this, the script reads details from your browser and checks an entry in its local storage. We do not store the IP address; Umami combines it with the browser identifier and a value that changes monthly into a pseudonymous identifier that recognises repeat visits only within a calendar month and only on the same device. We never collect names, email addresses, account or family identifiers, recordings or school details; session replay is off. Invitation and confirmation links and the page for students are not measured.

The legal basis is your voluntary consent (Section 25(1) TDDDG, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, with effect for the future, through “Privacy settings” at the bottom of every page. We delete the data after 90 days and backups no more than 14 days later. Only our team has access; there are no public shares.

Storage in your browser

This website sets no cookies. We keep only two entries in your browser’s local storage: your privacy choice (memdiz-consent), so we do not ask on every page, and your colour preference (memdiz-theme). Both are required for the function you asked for (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) and are not sent to us.

If you write to us, we process your details to handle the request under Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR and delete them once they are no longer needed.
