memdiz does not listen in the background. Your recording starts on your device. Without an internet connection or the required consent, it waits there until you successfully upload it or discard it.

You tell memdiz about your school day. The app helps turn it into tasks and a study plan. Here is what happens to your data and what your parents can see.
Your words become tasks.
After upload, an AI service turns your voice into text and sorts subjects, topics and tasks. It may also need school details such as your grade and school type. Try not to include private information about other people.
You check the result.
AI can make mistakes. Check and correct your entries. memdiz saves school entries during processing. We do not keep an audio archive on our servers. The temporarily saved text is deleted after successful processing; short deletion periods apply when processing fails.
Your parents get an overview.
They can see things like how many tasks are open, upcoming exams and study-plan progress. They cannot play recordings, read transcripts or open personal lesson notes.
No recording stays with us.
Everything else stays in Europe.
There is no audio archive on our servers, and the text is deleted after analysis. For speech recognition, analysis and study planning, your recording or the text extracted from it is processed in Europe. We store your account and school data on our servers in Germany. AI requests use the European endpoint of Mistral AI, France. Its region includes the EU and EFTA, which also covers European countries outside the EU. The privacy policy explains the details. Your content is not used to train the AI.

If you are under 16, a parent must consent before upload and AI processing. From 16, you can consent yourself. You can export your data and delete your account. memdiz supports organisation within your family. Sharing homework, tasks or school entries with classmates or other families is not part of its functionality.
We also record selected technical events, such as opening the app or completing a recording. These can temporarily be linked to your account. Lesson content is not included in these usage events. Analysis runs on our own servers and is not used for advertising.
